Idaho won’t offer protections to LGBT people
An Idaho Senate committee voted down legislation Friday to protect LGBT citizens under the Idaho Human Rights Act.
Only two people on the committee voted for the measure to pass, though activists showed up at hearings to show their support for the legislation. In spite of the bill’s failure, legislators seem to say the huge show of support ensures more pushes for LGBT equality in Idaho in the future.
Bill sponsor Sen. Edgar Malepeai, D-Pocatello, introduced the legislation to the committee. He fought back tears asked its members to print the bill and allow testimony from supporters.
“In my opinion, it would be profoundly disrespectful not to afford,” Malepeai said, pausing to compose himself. “Not to afford those tens of thousands of families affected by this legislation with at least a printing of the bill.”
This is profoundly disappointing.

Really don’t fuck with Idaho.
but Michael lives in Idaho and when I visit I don’t want to hide my sexuality ;-;
Reading this makes me sad but at the same time, after living in this state most my life, completely unsurprised.
I’m not surprised, since this is Idaho we’re talking about. There’s a lot of Mormons and white supremacists in that...
This is profoundly disappointing. I cannot help but read ‘LGBT individuals rejects as human beings’.
